Jim Perry pitched a six-hitter and also singled in the sixth inning to set off a five-run explosion as the Twins defeated the Brewers, 6-1. Singles by Steve Hovley, Phil Roof and Lew Krausse produced the Brewers' run in the second inning. Perry was forced by Cesar Tovar after his single in the sixth, but Rod Carew followed with a single and Tony Oliva brought in two runs with a double. A walk, two errors and a double by Leo Cardenas helped the Twins added three more tallies before the frame ended. [The Sporting News] |
