Milt Pappas, who suffered a fractured finger in spring training and pitched a total of only five innings previously this season, hurled the Braves to a 4-2 victory over the Giants. The veteran righthander, in traveling the route, allowed only five hits.

The Braves, who beat Juan Marichal, scored three of their runs in the fourth inning on a single by Rico Carty, doubles by Orlando Cepeda and Mike Lum and a single by Clete Boyer. Carty added the final run with a homer in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
