Playing despite a sore thumb, Tommy Harper hit a homer, two doubles and a single to lead the Brewers to a 6-3 victory over the Athletics. The Brewers scored five of their runs in the third inning. John Morris led off with a single and after a double by Harper and a walk loaded the bases, Mike Hegan singled for two runs. A walk reloaded the bases and another run counted on an infield out by Steve Hovley. Roberto Pena, obtained from the A's earlier in the day, and Gus Gil, recalled from Portland (Pacific Coast), followed with run-scoring singles. [The Sporting News]
