Triples by Sonny Jackson and Carty produced the Braves' initial run in the first inning and the Giants picked up the matching tally in the third on doubles by Ron Hunt and Willie McCovey.

Gil Garrido, a late inning replacement for Jackson, who suffered a spike wound, opened the 11th with a single and was forced by Felix Millan. After Hank Aaron walked, Carty smashed his homer.
