Winning for the first time since April 22, Mickey Lolich snapped the Tigers' six-game streak by defeating the Orioles, 4-0. Tom Phoebus, opposing Lolich, fell behind in the sixth inning when Dick McAuliffe walked, Cesar Gutierrez sacrificed and Al Kaline singled. Kaline took second on the throw to the plate and scored the second run on a single by Willie Horton. Jim Northrup homered with a man on base in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
