Sam McDowell yielded only four hits and also drove in the tie-breaking run with a single in the seventh inning while pitching the Indians to a 7-2 victory over the Red Sox. Duke Sims homered with a man on base to give the Indians a 2-1 lead in the fourth, but Reggie Smith knotted the count with a round-tripper in the fifth. After McDowell batted himself ahead, the Indians clinched the victory with four runs in the eighth, two scoring on a homer by Tony Horton. [The Sporting News]
