The first player in Minnesota history to hit for the cycle, Rod Carew paced the Twins to a 10-5 victory over the Royals. In addition to Carew's homer in his four-hit package, the Twins also had round-trippers by Paul Ratliff, Leo Cardenas and Rich Reese, while Amos Otis and Joe Keough smacked homers for the Royals.

Cardenas' drive with two men on base in the seventh inning sent the Twins ahead, 6-4, and they added their other runs in the eighth. Carew drove in one with a triple, Harmon Killebrew plated Carew with a single and Reese followed with his boundary belt to wrap up the Twins' seventh straight victory. [The Sporting News]
