Ray Fosse hit a grand-slam for his first major league homer as the Indians exploded for eight runs in the fifth inning to defeat the Red Sox, 10-7. Fosse connected off Vicente Romo after three passes had loaded the bases. Ray Jarvis, replacing Romo, was greeted with a homer by Graig Nettles. A walk, double by Jack Heidemann, error and a double by Eddie Leon added three more runs.

Fosse also had an RBI single in the first inning and Rich Rollins homered for the Indians in the fourth. The Red Sox staged a five-run rally in the sixth, two scoring on a homer by George Scott and two on a single by Dick Schofield. [The Sporting News]
