The last of the original Mets still active in the major leagues, Jim Hickman drove in three runs with a homer and double to help the Cubs defeat his former club, 6-4. Two errors, a sacrifice fly by Ron Santo and Hickman's homer gave the Cubs three unearned runs in the first inning. The Cubs added a tally in the second and wound up with a pair in the fifth on a triple by Glenn Beckert and doubles by Billy Williams and Hickman. Donn Clendenon hit a homer and two singles for the Mets. [The Sporting News]
