One out away from defeat, the Phillies tied the score with a two-run homer by Larry Hisle in the ninth inning and then beat the Cardinals in the 10th, 6-5, when Tony Taylor singled with the bases loaded. Del Bates doubled in the overtime stanza, Larry Bowa drew an intentional pass and Mike Jackson, after bunting, was safe on an error by Chuck Taylor before Tony Taylor came to the plate.
