A three-run rally in the seventh inning, featuring a bases-loaded single by Don Buford, brought the Orioles a 5-4 victory over the Indians. Jim Palmer homered in the third and Paul Blair batted in a run with a single in the sixth, but the Indians knocked out Palmer and went ahead with three runs in the seventh.

In the Orioles' half, passes to Davey Johnson and Cuty Motton, around a single by Andy Etchebarren, loaded the bases. Buford's single delivered two runs. An infield out by Mark Belanger then added what proved to be the winning marker. [The Sporting News]
