Darold Knowles pitched four innings of scoreless relief and was rewarded with credit for his first victory of the season when the Senators defeated the Red Sox, 7-5. Del Unser homered for the Nats in the first inning and singled for his third hit of the game to spark the decisive three-run outburst in the seventh. Unser took third on a single by Ed Stroud, who then stole second. Mike Epstein batted them across the plate with a single and scored himself on a triple by Bernie Allen. Rico Petrocelli drove in three runs for the Red Sox with a homer and a double. [The Sporting News] |
