. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Darold Knowles pitched four innings of scoreless relief and was rewarded with credit for his first victory of the season when the Senators defeated the Red Sox, 7-5. Del Unser homered for the Nats in the first inning and singled for his third hit of the game to spark the decisive three-run outburst in the seventh. Unser took third on a single by Ed Stroud, who then stole second. Mike Epstein batted them across the plate with a single and scored himself on a triple by Bernie Allen. Rico Petrocelli drove in three runs for the Red Sox with a homer and a double. [The Sporting News]
