With the aid of homers by Al Kaline and Jim Northrup, the Tigers gained a 5-4 victory over the Brewers, who went down to their seventh straight defeat. Kaline accounted for the first run in the third inning. The Tigers picked up another in the sixth and added their final tallies in the seventh, two scoring on Northrup's smash. Mickey Lolich, who yielded only three hits and one run in the first seven innings, was kayoed in eighth when the Brewers tightened the game.
