After the Royals scored two runs in the top half of the 12th inning, the Senators came back with a three-run rally to pull out a 5-4 victory. The Royals' first two tallies of the game came on a homer by Ed Kirkpatrick in the eighth. Ellie Rodriguez, who drove in the Senators' initial run with a single in the first, tied the score with another single in the eighth.

Joe Keough sent the Royals ahead with a homer in 12th after Bob Oliver struck out but reached first on a passed ball. In the Senators' half, a single by Aurelio Rodriguez, a double by Jim French and single by Bernie Allen tied the score. After a walk to Dave Nelson and a pop-up by Ed Brinkman, Del Unser capped the Nats' rally with a single, scoring Allen. [The Sporting News]
