Willie Davis drove in four runs and scored two himself to lead the Dodgers to an 8-6 victory over the Cardinals. The speedy center fielder tripled with two men on base in the first inning and crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by Billy Grabarkewitz. An infield out by Davis added a run in the second. The Cards tied the score in their half of the second, featuring a bases-loaded single by Vic Davalillo, and took the lead in the third.

Davis tripled again in the fifth and counted on a sacrifice fly by Wes Parker. The Dodgers scored twice in the sixth on a single by Jim Lefebvre, a sacrifice and successive doubles by Ted Sizemore and Maury Wills.
