After wasting numerous scoring opportunities while stranding 16 runners, the Reds ended a frustrating game when Pete Rose walked and Bobby Tolan homered in the ninth inning to beat the Expos, 6-4. The pass to Rose was the 12th issued by Expos' pitchers. Reds' hurlers walked six. Johnny Bench also homered for the Reds. Ron Fairly hit two doubles and batted in two for the Expos.
