The Dodgers rallied for five runs in the seventh inning to tie the score at 6-6 and then beat the Cardinals, 8-6, when Billy Grabarkewitz homered with a man on base in the 11th. Joe Hague hit a homer and Milt Ramirez batted in two runs with a triple for his first major league RBIs to pace the Cards to their 6-1 lead.

In the seventh, the Dodgers loaded the bases and scored the first run of their rally on a pass to Willie Davis. Another counted when Wes Parker grounded to Joe Torre, who failed to beat Manny Mota to the bag in an attempted forceout at third.
