Jim Palmer turned in his seventh complete game of the season and gained his seventh victory in nine decisions when the Orioles defeated the Athletics, 5-1. The Orioles' first two runs off Chuck Dobson were unearned, but a legitimate tally followed in the third inning on a walk, a single by Boog Powell, a sacrifice and an infield out.
