While the White Sox as a team collected only four hits, Ed Stroud rapped four successive singles to pace the Senators to a 4-3 victory. The White Sox scored twice without the benefit of a safety in the first inning on two walks, an error and a pair of forceouts, but Stroud singled and Frank Howard homered to tie the score in the sixth.

Stroud, Howard and Mike Epstein hit singles to snap the deadlock in the eighth and Aurelio Rodriguez followed with a sacrifice fly to plate the deciding run. A double by Tommy McCraw led to a run for the White Sox on a balk in the ninth inning. [The Sporting News]
