Curt Blefary hit his first homer of the season in the eighth inning to provide the Yankees' deciding run in a 3-2 victory over the Royals. Blefary also batted in the Yankees' first run with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Another sacrifice fly by Jerry Kenney added a run in the fifth. The Royals rallied for their runs with five singles in the ninth before Lindy McDaniel relieved Fritz Peterson and retired Billy Sorrell to save the game. [The Sporting News]
