Phil Niekro pitched a four-hitter and Hank Aaron smashed his first homer since May 17 to clinch the Braves' 4-1 victory over the Mets. The Braves started with a run on three walks and an infield out in the first inning. Tommie Agee accounted for the Mets' marker with a homer in the third, but singles by Rico Carty and Bob Didier, around a walk, put the Braves back in the lead in the fourth and Aaron wrapped it up with a two-run wallop in the seventh.
