After failing to hold a 5-0 lead, the Cubs scored on successive singles by Glenn Beckert, Billy Williams and Jim Hickman in the 11th inning to defeat the Dodgers, 6-5. The Cubs kayoed Alan Foster while scoring three times in the first inning and added two runs on a bases-loaded single by Williams in the fourth. The Dodgers' first three runs -- two in the seventh and one in the eighth -- were unearned before they tied the score in the ninth with singles by Andy Kosco and Ted Sizemore, a pass to Willie Crawford, a sacrifice fly by Tom Haller and a grounder by Maury Wills.
