Bob Gibson supported himself at bat with three productive singles while pitching the Cardinals to a 6-5 victory over the Giants. Gibson batted in one run in the second inning, helped set up another in the fourth and then singled to cap the Cardinals' three-run rally in the seventh.

Ken Henderson and Dick Dietz each drove in two runs for the Giants, who held a 5-3 lead before the Cardinal comeback. Dick Allen started the winning rally with a single, Joe Hague walked and Ted Simmons singled to load the bases. Vic Davalillo batted for Julian Javier and singled to drive in two runs.
