Swinging at the first pitch of the game, Walt Williams homered to start the White Sox off to a 7-3 victory over the Senators. After Williams' wallop, the White Sox added three runs on an error, singles by Carlos May and Bill Melton, two infield outs and a double by Bobby Knoop. Williams tripled in the second and scored on a single by Luis Aparicio, who also drove in another run with a hit in the seventh. Melton homered in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
