With principal batting assistance from Wes Parker, Claude Osteen posted his fifth straight victory for the Dodgers, defeating the Pirates, 5-0. A walk to Maury Wills, triple by Willie Davis and groundout by Parker in the first inning gave the Dodgers their start against Steve Blass, who went down to his seventh straight loss.
