A grand-slam homer by Doug Rader in the first inning and another four-run burst in the eighth kayoed the Expos, who lost to the Astros, 8-0, for their 11th straight defeat. With two out in the first, Jim Wynn walked, Tommy Davis doubled and Denis Menke drew an intentional pass to set the scene for Rader's jackpot wallop off Dan McGinn. The slam was the first by any Houston batter this season.

The Astros added other runs in the eighth on a homer by Joe Pepitone with a man on base, a single by Tom Griffin, pass to Jesus Alou and singles by Joe Morgan and Wynn. Four double plays helped Griffin end his personal five-game losing streak. [The Sporting News]
