Billy Cowan, who was inserted at first base to give the Angels more righthanded punch, smashed his first homer of the season to provide the winning run in a 2-1 victory over the Indians. Vada Pinson homered for the Indians' marker in the first inning and the Angels tied the score in the home half a on walk, infield out and single by Alex Johnson before Cowan decided the game in the fourth.
