Joe Moeller, who had not yielded an earned run in 18 2/3 innings of relief work, made his first start of the season for the Dodgers and was tagged for the first tally on a triple by Richie Hebner and single by Roberto Clemente in the fourth. Singles by Gene Alley and Matty Alou, around a sacrifice, added a run in the fifth and the final marker followed in the sixth on singles by Al Oliver, Manny Sanguillen and Alley.
