Batting in two runs, including the winning marker in seventh inning, Cito Gaston led the Padres to a 3-2 victory over the Cardinals. A walk to Steve Huntz and a double by Nate Colbert produced the Padres' initial run in the first inning. Huntz drew a walk again in the third and counted on a double by Gaston. Then, in the seventh, Jose Arcia doubled and Gaston came through with the deciding single. Lou Brock, who hit a triple and double, scored both of the Cardinals' runs. [The Sporting News]
