Freddie Patek tripled home two runs and then scored himself to back the four-hit pitching of Bob Veale as the Pirates defeated the Dodgers, 3-1. Patek's triple in the fifth inning followed a single by Bob Robertson and a ground-rule double by Manny Sanguillen. Matty Alou singled to plate Patek. [The Sporting News]
