. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Johnny Bench belted a homer, double and sacrifice fly, driving in five runs, to pace the Reds' 17-hit attack in a 10-2 victory over the Mets, who went down to their fifth straight defeat. Bench cracked his homer with two men on base in third inning. Lee May also homered for the Reds and Tony Perez whacked a two-run triple. The Mets' eight hits off Wayne Simpson included a boundary belt by Ken Boswell. [The Sporting News]
