Bill Melton hit two homers and Tommy McCraw batted in two runs less dramatically with an infield grounder and a single to enable the White Sox to defeat the Red Sox, 4-2. Jerry Janeski, who pitched the route, gave up the Red Sox runs on a single by Reggie Smith and a homer by Carl Yastrzemski in the sixth inning. [The Sporting News]
