Ending his personal four-game losing streak, Tom Seaver gave up only three hits and pitched the Mets to a 2-1 victory over the Astros. Tom Griffin extended his mastery of the Mets to 33 consecutive scoreless innings before his string was broken when Wayne Garrett homered in the fifth. Tommie Agee then singled and raced home with the Mets' second run on a double by Bud Harrelson. Denis Menke homered for the Astros' marker in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
