The Indians, who hit four homers to account for all their runs, came from behind to tie the score in ninth inning and then rallied on another round-tripper to beat the Athletics in the 10th, 6-5. A two-run single by Chuck Dobson and homers by Felipe Alou and Joe Rudi gave the A's a 4-2 lead, with the Indians' counters coming on boundary belts by Jack Heidemann and Eddie Leon.

Chuck Hinton, pinch-hitting with a man on base and two out in the ninth, delivered his first homer of the season to tie the score. The A's went ahead again in the 10th when Sal Bando was hit by a pitch and Tony LaRussa, running for him, scored on singles by Alou and Frank Fernandez.
