Bert Blyleven, the 19-year-old rookie right-hander, gained his second victory in three starts when the Twins defeated the Red Sox, 10-2. Blyleven went out for a pinch-hitter in the fifth inning after allowing two runs on six hits while striking out seven.

The Twins, who had a 5-2 lead, added a sixth run when Rick Renick, batting for Blyleven, drew a pass with the bases loaded. The Twins iced the verdict with four runs in the eighth on three singles, an infield out and a homer by Jim Holt. [The Sporting News]
