Pinch-hitting with two out in the ninth inning, Bill Sudakis came through with a two-run homer to bring the Dodgers a 5-4 victory over the Cubs. Jim Hickman homered with a man on base for the Cubs in the first inning. After the Dodgers picked up a run in their half, the Cubs added two in the second on a homer by Ernie Banks, a walk to Jack Hiatt, a sacrifice, an infield out and a single by Paul Popovich.

The Dodgers closed the gap with a pair in their half on a double by Andy Kosco, singles by Tom Haller and Jim Lefebvre and an infield out by Len Gabrielson. In the ninth, Billy Grabarkewitz singled and was forced by Haller. Von Joshua ran for Haller and scored ahead of Sudakis on his homer. [The Sporting News]
