A double by Roy White on a fly to right field that Pat Kelly lost in the sun proved a break in the ninth inning that enabled the Yankees to beat the Royals, 3-2. After reaching second, White advanced to third on a grounder and scored the winning run on a pinch-single by Thurman Munson. [The Sporting News]
