A single by Jack Heidemann in the 12th inning, his fourth hit of the game, scored Graig Nettles from second base and gave the Indians a 3-2 victory over the Angels. Heidemann doubled in the first inning and counted the Tribe's initial run on a single by Ray Fosse. Eddie Leon homered in the second.

The Angels rallied to tie the score in the ninth when Joe Azcue delivered a pinch-single with the bases loaded. Nettles and Rich Rollins walked with two out in the 12th before Paul Doyle relieved Mel Queen. Heidemann fouled off five pitches and then lined his single. [The Sporting News]
