Merv Rettenmund hit a grand-slam homer for the Orioles in the first inning, but the Brewers rallied to gain a 9-6 victory, capping their comeback with a six-run outburst in the eighth inning. Rettenmund's slam and a two-run homer by Chico Salmon in the sixth gave the Orioles a 6-3 lead, one of the Brewers' tallies coming on a round-tripper by Mike Hegan.

Singles by Tommy Harper and Ted Savage, around a pass to Hegan, produced the first run for the Brewers in the eighth. Tito Francona singled for another tally.
