After scoring all their runs in the first three innings, the Braves outlasted the Expos, 7-5. The Braves scored three times in the first on a triple by Gil Garrido, single by Hank Aaron, double by Orlando Cepeda and single by Bob Didier.

Four singles, together with a walk and two wild pitches, produced another trio in the second. Rico Carty doubled to drive in the Braves' final run in the third. The Braves were forced to call on four pitchers before the game ended, with Milt Pappas getting credit for the decision in relief of starter George Stone. [The Sporting News]
