Jim McAndrew, who remained on the mound despite two rain delays totaling one hour, seven minutes, pitched the Mets to an 8-1 victory over the Reds. After the Reds scored in the first inning on doubles by Pete Rose and Johnny Bench, the Mets went ahead in their half with a homer by Tommie Agee, a double by Bud Harrelson, an infield out and a sacrifice fly by Donn Clendenon. Agee batted in another with a single in the seventh and Cleon Jones, who had three hits, capped the scoring with a two-run double. [The Sporting News] |
