Oscar Gamble collected three singles and Deron Johnson rapped two doubles to account for five of the Phillies' nine hits in a 4-2 victory over the Astros. A double by Tony Taylor and singles by Larry Bowa and Gamble, together with an error by Tommy Davis, gave the Phillies two runs in the first inning.

Gamble singled in the fifth and scored on a double by Johnson. After hitting a double again in the eighth, Johnson gave way to pinch-runner Larry Hisle, who scored on a single by Ron Stone. [The Sporting News]
