Ron Fairly hit a grand-slam homer to climax a six-run outburst in the eighth inning and power the Expos to a 10-7 victory over the Braves. Hank Aaron batted in four of the Braves' runs with a homer, double and single. Jim Gosger had four hits for the Expos, including a two-run homer.

John Bateman walked to open the eighth. Milt Pappas, replacing Phil Niekro, was rapped for singles by Marv Staehle and Bob Bailey to produce the first run of the rally. Larry Jaster took over and issued two successive passes to force in another tally before Fairly came to the plate and connected for his jackpot wallop. [The Sporting News]
