A homer by Curt Blefary, together with two runs resulting from passes, enabled the Yankees to win over the Red Sox, 3-2. Ray Culp, who pitched for the Red Sox, walked Thurman Munson with the bases loaded to force in a run in the first inning. Blefary hit his homer in the fourth.

Jerry Kenney walked in the fifth, stole second and scored on a single by Bobby Murcer. Rico Petrocelli accounted for the Red Sox runs with a pair of homers. [The Sporting News]
