A five-run outburst in the fifth inning, together with homers by Johnny Edwards and Bob Watson, enabled the Astros to end their five-game losing streak with a 9-6 victory over the Braves. Jesus Alou singled with the bases loaded to drive in the Astros' first two runs in the fifth and when Rico Carty booted the ball in left field, another run crossed the plate. An infield out by Marty Martinez scored Alou. After a single by Cesar Cedeno and a forceout by Tommy Davis, Denis Menke tripled. Edwards homered with a man on base in the sixth and Watson added a solo swat in the eighth. Hank Aaron hit his 20th homer of the season for the Braves.
