Homers by Johnny Bench, Tony Perez and Lee May powered the Reds past the Dodgers, 5-4, and enabled Jim McGlothlin to register his 10th victory of the season. Bench hit his homer in the second inning to tie the score at 1-1. Pete Rose singled in the third, Angesl Bravo walked and Perez poked his round-tripper.

After Bench went out, May also hit for the circuit to provide the Reds' deciding run. The Dodgers kayoed McGlothlin while scoring twice in the seventh and added their final run when Wes Parker homered off Wayne Granger with two out in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
