Ed Kirkpatrick batted in three runs with a double in the first inning and added a homer in the fourth to provide the Royals with a 5-3 victory over the Twins. Cookie Rojas doubled and Amos Otis singled to start the Royals' scoring. After Cesar Tovar dropped a long fly by Bob Oliver, Joe Keough walked to load the bases for Kirkpatrick's double.
