Backed by a 15-hit attack, Mel Stottlemyre gained his eighth victory in his last nine decisions as the Yankees defeated the Red Sox, 8-3. Stottlemyre gave up seven hits, including homers by Rico Petrocelli and Billy Conigliaro.
