Reliever Tug McGraw walked pinch-hitter Ron Stone with the bases loaded in the ninth inning to hand the Phillies a 2-1 victory over the Mets. Jerry Koosman, who was the loser, was lifted after Deron Johnson singled and Rick Joseph beat out a bunt in the ninth. Ron Taylor relieved and, after a sacrifice, walked Oscar Gamble intentnonally to fill the sacks. The Mets then brought in McGraw and the Phillies called on Stone as a pinch-hitter for Doc Edwards.
