Gaylord Perry turned in his fourth straight complete game, struck out 13, his season's high, and posted his 11th victory for the Giants by pitching an eight-hitter to defeat the Padres, 7-1. Bobby Bonds hit a homer in the first inning for the Giants and singled and scored on a triple by Willie Mays in the sixth. Mays crossed the plate on an infield out by Ken Henderson.
